This little picture of a giant river otter pup was inspired by an animal planet feature about Carolina Vargas, a lady that raised a pup named Sancho, which mysteriously vanished prior to his release into the wild. It was a very touching story. This is a tribute to Sancho. Giant River Otters are highly endangered mammals and are unusual in that they are social, forming small family groups and living together in dens. They are native to South America, particularly Brazil, they are better protected in the Pantanal region where fewer humans live. This little pup is about to steal some fisherman's catch of red-bellied pirahna, the otter's favorite food
Please enjoy this cute tradigital picture, I used mostly acrylic paint and color pencils, effects and touchups were done using Photoshop CS.
all the best,
