I finally watched "How to Train your Dragon". I fell in love with the movie. I also enjoyed the featurette about how to draw a Night Fury. This scene is a homage to the movie. It shows a little viking girl (Aesa) and her massive friend (a bulky night fury named Gulltop). They stand watch over their village, a remote norse whaling outpost in the New World. I did a lot of research on norse village life, I was surprised how similar their dwellings were, with the exception that villagers used whatever building materials they had at hand.

I really love the textures in this painting, and that it's researched! I love how the background fades out into the distance, and becomes more and more detailed the closer to the front it is.
