New Found Land by Psithyrus New Found Land by Psithyrus
I finally watched "How to Train your Dragon". I fell in love with the movie. I also enjoyed the featurette about how to draw a Night Fury. This scene is a homage to the movie. It shows a little viking girl (Aesa) and her massive friend (a bulky night fury named Gulltop). They stand watch over their village, a remote norse whaling outpost in the New World. I did a lot of research on norse village life, I was surprised how similar their dwellings were, with the exception that villagers used whatever building materials they had at hand.

Hope you like this painting.

All the best,

Blair

So natural. How To Train Your Dragon is the best movie of the year, beats Toy Story 3 and Guardians of Ga'hoole!

I've still yet to see this movie...if this picture is any indication of how good it is, I'd really like to see it. :D
I really love the textures in this painting, and that it's researched! I love how the background fades out into the distance, and becomes more and more detailed the closer to the front it is. :D It has a really incredible sense of depth.

This picture totally floored me. This by far is the most amazing How to Train your Dragon artwork I've ever seen. I love how Gulltop looks. And the house behind is just amazing as well. Even tiny details like the skull thingy! Its soooo cool! :) How do you manage to get so much tiny detail into your pictures? Like the armor clothes. And the chainmail hanging out. Its just insane!

I am in love with this painting! I love your attention to detail in foreground and background textures. I love Gulltop's mane, and Aesa's armor. Keep up the great work!

P.S- I'm glad you finally say HTTYD. :) That movie warms my heart.
