Paleo Buddies 3, Gorgonopsid puppies by Psithyrus Paleo Buddies 3, Gorgonopsid puppies by Psithyrus
This scene of Permian cuteness is dedicated to my two nephews Cale and Bryce and is an homage to my black lab dog who loves to harass box turtles. Here, two young Inostrancevia pups are annoying an old turtle who just wants to bask on a warm Pangaea beach in peace. The plants are ferns and cycads which were common when these sweet little gorgonopsids walked permian Russia. Hope you like these rambuncous little synapsids.

all the best,

Blair

I've always thought of adult gorgonopsids, rather than their offspring.
Now I see what I've been missing. :D

They are just like baby Vastatodons, but Vastatodon babies are spikyer, and are normally found in groups of 6-10, and stay with their mama until they are a year old.

If I had a big yard and access to increasingly large quantities of meat, I'd happily raise a gorgonopsid. This is a nice depiction of some of Earth's coolest critters!

You are most correct :) i goofed, but i really wanted to draw some gorgonopsids pestering a turtle, just like my dog does.

Thanks for the clarification :)

All the best,

Blair

A Scutosaurus would have been just as cute and more fossil-record friendly and fitting since they're anapsids just like turtles. Only issue with that idea is that Gogonopsid and Scutosaur fossils are found in completely different parts of the globe and there's no evidence to suggest that their territories overlapped.

Your nephews must be proud of this nice artwork :)
The scene is cool.
These two are still young and just think about playing all the time ;)
Poor turtle, it has to be patient and to wait for the puppies to stop hehe
The plants turned out very realistic.
Good job as usual!

Exactly, but i found out that this old fellow would have been around the Triassic, perhaps he,s a distant relative of odontochelys.

Thanks, i love your paleoart and alternatively evolved creatures.

Cheers,

Blair

How sweet! X3 I can imagine how annoyed the turtle might be, though, haha. XD

But what cute little balls of fun! I really love how you drew their teeth there, as well as the shapes of their heads. Excellently-done scales, as well! o:

Thanks so much, that means alot, i had to rescue another turtle from my pooch tonight. He loves carrying around turtles in his mouth, he rarely hurts them, but i can identify the turtles sometimes by the nicks in their shell, :)

It really resonated with me. I once found a turtle that had clearly survived an attack from a bear, or possibly a large dog - one back leg was a stump, and there were deep tooth-grooves on her shell. Quite a survivor.
We also had a collie years ago who would bring us little animals - turtles, frogs, and so on - and once he even brought us a baby bird, carrying it so gently it was completely uninjured (covered in drool, though).

Ya, I even consider them as my second favorite creatures besides Dromaeosaurs. It is also a shame that there aren't that many Permian Speculative Projects compared to all the Speculative Projects out there for the KT-Event.
